Baratza Sette Grinders

The Baratza Sette series is a group of high-quality coffee grinders that bring the precision, power, and durability of an industrial cafe grinder to your own home.

The series consists of the Baratza Sette 30, the Baratza Sette 270, and the Baratza Sette 270wi. These are multipurpose grinders with brand new, innovative burr set designs for maximum accuracy and function.

Although the three grinders were designed with similar goals in mind, the slight differences between each are important to note when deciding which one to purchase for your at-home coffee routine.

The Baratza Sette 30

The Baratza 30 burr grinder was the first of the Sette series. The new grinding mechanism is possibly one of the most prominent markers of the Sette series.

If you’re at all worried about wasting coffee grounds during the grinding process, you’ll love the vertical transport feature that funnels the coffee through with little to no residue left behind.

The Sette 30 was also designed with a brand new burr set feature, never before seen on any other Baratza grinder.

Instead of the usual mechanism where two 40mm conical burrs grind together to create friction, we now have a design where there is an outer burr ring that rotates around a central conical burr piece.

This powers the grind to be even faster than its competitors.

Baratza Sette 30 for Pour Over

You’ll find 30 different grind settings on the Baratza Sette 30. These grinds are perfect for espresso or other finer grind sizes like Aeropress, V60, Pour-Over or Chemex.

You can adjust the grind settings by turning the knob on the front of the grinder. You can also use the backlit LED screen to adjust and set the timing of your grinder.

Another feature unique to the Sette series and first seen on the Sette 30 is the adjustable set of arms so that you can grind directly into your portafilter, or the grounds bin that comes with your purchase.

You can purchase the Baratza Sette 30 grinder here for $299.95.

The Baratza Sette 270

Baratza Sette 270

Visually, the Baratza Sette 30 and the Sette 270 are practically identical. They both weigh 7 lbs and have dimensions of 13 x 40 x 24 cm.

Both grinders also have a 10 oz beans hopper capacity, as well as a grounds bin that holds 5.5 oz of ground coffee.

The Baratza Sette 270 also has the innovative grinding mechanism that sets the Sette series apart from others.

With the outer burr ring system and vertical transport feature, the innovative design of the Sette 270 matches that of the Sette 30.

One of the most notable differences between the two grinders is the grind setting adjustments. The Sette 270 comes with 30 macro settings, which is the same as the Sette 30.

The main difference here is that the 270 is also equipped with nine “micro” settings between each macro adjustments. This creates 270 adjustments in total and makes this grinder perfect for brewing methods that may require more precision than normal.

Baratza Sette 270

If you’re brewing with a high-quality espresso machine at home, the Sette 270 is great for the fine adjustments that will be needed.

You’ll also find the backlit LED screen for time adjustments and settings on both the Sette 270 and the 30.

Each grinder is also designed with the adjustable arms that hold your portafilter or other container of choice.

The Baratza Sette 270wi

Baratza Sette 270Wi

The Baratza Sette 270wi is also identical in size, shape, and weight as both the Sette 30 and the 270.

This grinder functions with the same grinding mechanism, using the vertical transport feature and the outer ring burr around the central conical burr.

You’ll also find features like the 5.5 oz grounds bin, adjustable device holding arms, and the backlit LED screen for timing adjustments.

You can probably guess by the name, but the Sette 270wi has the same amount of grinding adjustments as the Sette 270.

You’ll still find 30 macro adjustments with 9 micro settings between each one.

Baratza Sette 270Wi

The main difference with the 270wi is in the last letter: “i” for intelligence. This grinder uses the “Acaia Scale” technology, a feature that grinds by weight with just the push of a button.

This grinder also has bluetooth capabilities so you can stay up to date with the latest grinder firmware.

Like we mentioned above, you’ll still see the convertible device holder arms, but they’ll actually be powered and controlled by the Acaia scale technology.
