The Baratza Encore is a well made burr grinder that provides consistent grinds to match your coffee brewer type. There is no reason to pay more for a quality grinder.
This burr grinder works really well. And I love the philosophy of maintaining it over the years rather than throwing it out and buying a new one in the years to come.
I've been looking for a grinder that would be consistent from grind to grind, as well as provide the flexibility to go from drip grind to French Press, and even espresso, and have the grind be consistent regardless of the type of grind setting chosen. The Encore has met my criteria and more. It was packaged beautifully and received in perfect condition, and the use instructions are clear and easy to follow, so getting to first use was easy. Additionally, the noise level is acceptable for a device grinding coffee beans, and much quieter than my previous grinder. So yes, I'm very happy and would highly recommend the Encore to anyone considering purchase!
After a lot of research, I got this one. It was an expensive purchase for me, so research research! First-- This produces a great cup of coffee when used with a french press or aeropress! However, my cheap small grinder actually has more options that are "hands free." Since this grinder has a large catchment, you can put more beans than you need for your press which seems easy until you have to learn to COUNT for the length of time you want it to grind. I have gotten really good at counting to Fifteen One Thousand.... then you manually turn it off. Maybe I'm doing something wrong since nobody else seems to complain about this. I suppose it has to do with the different size options and preference: maybe you are coffee pressing one cup... but it would make sense to have that as a setting option, too? Even if you put in exactly the amount of beans you want ground you have to manually turn it off or it keeps grinding no beans. Basically this means I have to stand next to the grinder and count until it is done. I mean, if you want 15-one-thousand moments of zen, this is your chance! However, if, like me, you want to feed your dogs while your coffee is grinding you may need a different grinder. It's a lot of money for me to spend to have less functionality than my $20 grinder. But the coffee tastes good!
So far so good.
I bought the Baratza Encore after much research. It seems there are many fine burr grinders out there, but this was the one that consistently showed up in first or second place.
I grind for French Press, and while I have to admit that my trusty manual grinder gives a more uniform grind, the difference is minimal and does not affect the brewing or taste of my coffee.
The best aspects of this grinder are its' simplicity and build quality. I do not hesitate in recommending it, and suggest you keep in mind that many negative online reviewers seem to grind for french press at the coursest setting instead of the recommended setting given by Baratza. People, there is a reason manufacturer's provide instructions, manuals, and recommendations.
This grinder gives a perfect French press grind every time.
Great grinder. Does it’s job perfectly, fits nicely on my countertop, very happy with this product.
What a wonderful way to simplify your morning coffee making process! Should have done this years ago. Super grinder headquartered in the coffee capital of Seattle...what more could one ask for! Perfect grounds every morning without a hitch. The Baratza Encore is a high end entry level machine. Just the weight of the machine tells you it’s well put together. Only recommendation would be the somewhat vague assemble instructions. I reached out to both the French Press and Baratza Customer Service and solved the problem concerning the gasket. Very happy with both product as well as customer follow up. Highly recommend....5 Stars!!! Dave O’Neill
I wanted an upgrade from my all-purpose blade grinder to a dedicated coffee grinder. I chose the Baratza Encore based on the positive reviews. It has not disappointed. I grind for a drip machine (18) on weekdays and French Press (28) on the off-days. Having a consistent, repeatable grind is great and leads to a better cup. Well worth the bucks.
Thank you so much for your help and support. The package arrived in time for the birthday celebration and was well received. My husband loves his gift and so do I. We love our coffee! You guys are the best.
