This is the best hand grinder. I love that it has a heavy base making it so much easier to grind the beans. Grinds the beans as fine or as coarse as you'd like it. Never seen another like this on the market.
I love it! It is very easy to use. I love having a manual grinder as I had two electric ones break within 1 month. I highly recommend this coffee grinder.
We purchase our grinder about year and half ago. We used it almost daily. It was never dropped or abused. It worked fantastically. But noticed a crack formed where the ceramic grinder is located and worked itself down to the bottom. We repaired it with duct tape. It still works, but wished it had better durability than cheap plastic.
We generally purchase ground beans, for convenience sake. Makes the morning prep of French Press coffee, very quick. But fresh ground beans on the weekend, is fantastic. Fresh ground beans are our preference; and The Brazil manual grinder, is especial helpful at our cabin (no power). The base, is the bit of genius, with this grinder. It will sit on a level surface, rock solid, and allows for easy rotation of the handle. We have tried other manual grinders, (the glass jar, wood box, etc.), and the base 'skips around' on your surface. The consistency of the grind, is the best we have seen. The video is totally accurate. I would definitely recommend this manual burr grinder.
I'm playing with the grind settings but even now I can say the beans are ground evenly.
It's a huge upgrade from my old Skerton.
If you're hesitating about this, please don't, I think it's the best manual coffee grinder out there!
That being said, I want to give an honorable mention to the crew on frenchpresscoffee for the dedication! They even include a table with the math and grinding settings to make our life easier!
Keep it up guys, great service!
I'm still figuring out the right grind setting, given its superior capability at producing a fine grind, at least compared to my past grinders. While the holder for the device is weighted, producing a fine grind takes some effort and benefits from leverage. I've found that better leverage is afforded by placing the device at hip level and pressing downward, so that the housing does not slip around. Ideally one would have a table at that unconventional level on which to place the device, as well as some means of attaching it, so that downward pressure is not required. I have a cast-iron Brazilian manual grinder that screws onto a shelf, thereby securing it. Workmanship is excellent. I'm satisfied and will be more so after I have made certain adaptations.
I tried much more expensive ones, but none could beat this grinder to produce a sweet cup of coffee.
I love how excellent it is to extract the sweetness and avoid the bitterness.
I am very impressed with this grinder. I called customer service (CrushGrind) when I first got it to ask a question about the grind setting for French Press... they were VERY helpful!
The grinder is very easy to use and produces a consistent grind each time. The only negative thing (and trust me, not even worth dropping the Review down a Star for) is the ground coffee contained in the glass jar after grinding is so well sealed that when you gently pull the glass jar off to empty the grinds into the French press; almost every time loose grounds spill out onto the kitchen counter.
Put that aside , I highly recommend this grinder. High quality and easy to grind with the included base!
The grinding mechanism is great but the base is key. Worth the price!
I enjoy the consistency of the grinds at any level. I use it for espresso and the grind setting is not difficult to figure out. I like the base it comes with because it helps provide stabilization when grinding especially at a finer setting. This is a great alternative to an expensive electronic grinder. The grinder doesnt hold any grinds once your done so what you put in is what you get out, which is important if you like consistency in your coffee flavor. Cleaning the grinder is easy because you can take it apart, just let it dry fully before reusing it.
