Porlex Grind Size Chart and Recommended Grinder Settings

The manual coffee grinder makes quick work of fresh beans, grinding them with strong ceramic burrs which are more durable than traditional glass burrs, produce less static than plastic burrs and stay sharper than steel burrs. The ceramic coffee grinder's burrs also don't rust with frequent washing and are easy to clean.

Similar to the Porlex Tall Manual Hand Coffee Grinder, the Mini is 55mm smaller and can hold up to 26 grams of beans. It's rubber grip makes grinding a breeze and lets you attach the handle to the side of the grinder housing when it is detached. This means the Mini 2 model can fit well into an Aeropress with the band removed. The detachable handle can also be stored with the grinder when it's not in use.

The manual coffee grinder's burrs can tackle almost any type of coffee bean, featuring settings from Turkish to French Press. The Porlex Hand Coffee Grinder's internal spring keeps the grind steady even for more coarse blends. It's straightforward locking nut is also incredibly simple to adjust.

If you’re in the market for a portable grinder but get overwhelmed by all of the hand grinder options on the market, read our Porlex Grinder Review to see if it would be a good fit for your coffee routine.

Yet the most appealing aspect of this burr coffee grinder is the speed at which it can operate and it's efficiency at grinding. The Porlex Mini Grinder ii features a steel handle with a stable connection to the grinder, allowing users to grinder with one hand while cranking the handle with the other.

    Porlex Mini Grinder Features:

    • Different grinding settings: Ceramic conical burrs with a variety of grinding capabilities from Turkish grinds, to powder to French Press. It can be used throughout the home or office to accommodate for everyone's favorite brews.
    • Superior production method: Produced by Porlex in Osaka, Japan according to benchmark standards as the most precise ceramic coffee grinders on the market.
    • Bean grinder space: Substantial 26 gram capacity that can grind more than three cups of coffee, saving time and energy in grinding beans to keep you running throughout the day.
    • Attractive and modern design: Featuring a strong yet sleek stainless steel, static free body that is effortless to grasp, with an easy to grip black silicone band and black cranking knob providing increased stability when grinding beans.
    • Compact design: The Mini manual hand coffee grinder stands at 130mm in height and can be easily packed away or stored in a cabinet for frequent yet low profile use.

    Just what I wanted

I'm the only coffee drinker in my family. I've used my insulated french press for years and a blade grinder. The news about cholesterol/french press and the occurrence of coffee grounds in my morning mug encouraged me to switch to a pour over and the Porlex. The Porlex holds enough for a 14oz mug of my favorite Kona brew. It's easy to hold in my small hands (I'm only 5ft tall) and to grind (I have old lady weak wrists). It is sturdy. It will be great also for when we go camping. Setting the grind size was easy. I can now taste more of the chocolate and cherry nuances of my brew - and no annoying grounds.

Dear Helene! Thank you for your feedback. We are appreciate it very much. All the best, FrenchPressCoffee.com

    Great Companion

Highest quality manual grinder I have experienced...I am confident this is a reliable product that will last for many years to come.
I am single and live alone, this is the perfect size to make a fresh cup of cappuccino in the morning.
Ideal size and weight for me to take on trips, as well as very robust to use while camping, to still enjoy (familiar) fresh coffee in the morning while away.

    My second Porlex hand grinder.

I start my coffee enjoyment filling and grinding the beans as the water heats. Near perfect timing and fresh ground beans. Perfectly ground beans. Thank you.

Just the ticket for Aero Press Go

After purchasing an AeroPress Go for car trips, I realized that my inner coffee snob would also require fresh-ground coffee for espresso. After a little research I discovered the Porlex Mini II grinder. Right out of the box I was impressed with the quality of the construction and the small size (I read a review where someone stated that by removing the silicone sleeve you could neatly tuck it inside the AeroPress . . . that must be for the original AeroPress because the GO version isn't big enough to accommodate this grinder. So you have to carry it separately). The quality of the grind is very good right out of the box: evenly ground, espresso grind, and not messy at all - thanks to the metal cup that catches the grinds. While it takes a bit of effort and time to create enough espresso grind for a serving, I feel it's definitely worth the trouble - and the cost - for this setup. I'm really pleased with this portable grinder.

    Review of Portable Coffee Grinder

Coffee grinder is small enough to be packed in a toiletry bag making it very convenient for travel.

You are able to place about 20 grams of coffee beans in the grinder but 23 grams can be placed and lid still fits but it know that the beans will level out over the top like a well rounded curve.

I've used the coffee grinder almost every day for about 1.5 months and noticed that the top of the grinder, where the rotating handle fits to grind the beans, have worn since the handle does not sit flush at the bottom when grinding; during the grinding, the handle revolves at an angle forming a notch or indentation on the "nut" where the handle fits and thus, the grinding "nut" will eventually break off and leave the grinder useless in time. I took some pictures but the notch being formed is difficult to see.

    Perfect grinder for me

I ordered the ported mini. But wished I had ordered the tall. Frenchpress told me not to open the box when it arrived. They would send the tall with a return shipping label. Frenchpress is fast and friendly I’m ordering again soon. Great company to order from.

    Perfect little grinder!

This is the perfect little starter grinder for any coffee lover. It took a couple of tries to get used to the process (setting the grind level and the actual manual grinding), but now this is one of my favorite morning routines, and 3 weeks later I’m so happy I bought it!

    My Favorite

Diameter is great. It is much easier to hold onto while grinding than some other grinders I have tried. It is easy to disassemble and clean. It seems to be built to last. Time will tell.
It is my favorite grinder. If you really like coffee..get the tall one;)

Dear Ruth! Thank you for your feedback. We are appreciate it very much. All the best, FrenchPressCoffee.com

Can't go wrong with a Porlex.

Unbeatable pricing and delivered quickly. 11/10 would order from here again.
I learned about this product after the Porlex imitation, JavaPresse, broke down on me after three uses. I looked it up on Reddit, and it turns out that they were trying to imitate the Porlex! Some say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Thus, I just had to get one for myself.

Dear Tom! Thank you for your feedback. We are appreciate it very much. All the best, FrenchPressCoffee.com
